INTRODUCTION
Research, Policy and Corporate Planning of the Royal Virgin Islands Police Force, is an adjunct unit of the Commissioner's Office, at Police Headquarters. This unit was established in 1993 and was previously named Planning Research and Development (PRAD). It was operated by a Committee made up of senior police officers, responsible for researching policing subjects and issues and making recommendations. Although dormant for a while, it was restablished in October 2007 and an inspector was assigned and granted the designated title of Research, Policy and Corporate Planning Officer. Personnel interested in working in this unit will relish in the challenge of obtaining strategic guidance in their professional development and a broad spectrum of how the force is managed. FUNCTIONS The following are the core functions of the Research, Policy and Corporate Planning Unit:
VISION To create awareness of knowledge-driven policing and to propel the force to excellence. MISSION The Research, Policy and Corporate Planning Unit, exists as a conduit for strategic management and planning of all administrative police matters by the Senior Management Team (SMT) of the force, in the making of informed decisions.
